WE sent reporter Grace Walton out to receive a special treatment as the latest beauty craze has come to Worcester.

Journey Hair and Beauty Boutique, in Copenhagen Street, has launched a new treatment – HydraFacial.

It was an hour of heaven - it was simply bliss. I felt like I was in a mini spa and it was a lovely treat after a hardworking day.

It was relaxing, tranquil and the absolute perfect way to kick back and relax.

The HydraFacial Skin health for Life was launched three weeks ago in the city. The treatment is a six-step facial and involves a thorough process.

The first stage detoxifies the skin, which is achieved by a tiny valet that is manoeuvred over the face where lymphatic drainage occurs. This improves circulation of the lymph system and helps eliminate toxins.

I must say, this was very peaceful – I actually had a kip during this time.

The following step was a deep cleanse and exfoliation, which uncovers a new layer of skin. A vacuum-based abrasion tip gently smooths away dead skin cells while delivering serum directly to the fresh new skin beneath.

Next is the acid peel, where glycolic and salicylic solutions are delivered deeply into the skin to deliver the results of an aggressive peel.

Following this is the extraction of debris from the pores. This was my favourite part. It was sort of like a mini vacuum that gently sucked on my face to clean my pores.

After, she showed me the ‘gunk’ that had been extracted from this vacuum like tool. It was oddly very satisfying seeing all the rubbish from my skin.

The next step focused on hydration. This step quenches the skin and drenches it in moisture, with a mix of potent antioxidants, hyaluronic acid, and peptides to support collagen.

The final stage is rejuvenation, where the treatment finished with red and infrared LED light to reduce redness and further stimulate collagen, which supports the natural production of vitamin D.

Walking home following my treatment, my skin felt radiant and had a lovely glow. My skin had never felt so clean and invigorated.

There was no pain or redness that occurred from the treatment, which surprised me actually considering how thorough it was.

The most noticeable differences for me following the HydraFacial treatment are how my skin feels.

Even days after, it still feels hydrated, smooth and so clean. My pores are less visible and I have the confidence to 'flaunt' my skin and have even avoided wearing make-up.

Whether you have acne prone skin, dry dehydrated skin, or trying to combat signs of ageing, this facial is for you.

Rosanna McCaffery, a beauty therapist with 10 years experience in the industry, said: “We are proud to unveil Worcester’s first HydraFacial treatment.

“All of us had a HydraFacial previously before we introduced the treatment to Journey. “There is no where in Worcester that does this so we wanted to get in there before anyone else does.

“We want to be a place where people can visit locally rather than travelling further afield for the facial.”
