I agree with Chris Chappell that investment is needed in Herefordshire to provide health and social care, homes, education and transport.
However, it is simplistic to state that Herefordshire is a business. It is not possible to make a profit from sick and elderly people, provision of homes at affordable rents, education, and a national transport system for the future.
It is the job of central government to fund these fundamental needs from taxation. The failure of governments to meet these needs has resulted in the problems we face. Running a business, for example, a grocer’s shop, or your home, requires understanding of micro economics. Running a country requires vision, imagination and macro economic policies for a country in which the basic needs of the population are met.
