IT was fantastic to see so many people attend and support Worcestershire Pride this weekend.

Pride had returned to Worcester for its third year on Saturday – and this year was the best one yet.

The event saw a record number with around 1,000 people who took part and joined in with the city parade.

It’s important to celebrate and support the LGBT community and also create a space where everyone can feel safe.

Pride is not just for the LGBT folk - it’s for everyone to come together to celebrate the meaning of love, flaunt who they really are in a safe environment and promote diversity in a positive manner.

There are so many people who ask, ‘why isn’t there a Pride for straight people?’

However, everyday is a day for straight people. After all, they are never faced with discrimination or hatred based on their sexuality.

It is vital to support this event and encourage people to take part for it to continue to grow and able those to feel safe and valued in society.
