A WITNESS appeal has been launched by police after a man was hit by a lorry and died in Stourport.

Emergency services were called to Worcester Road, near to the Four Acres Cavan Park, at around 7am on Thursday (September 26).

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford with a doctor on board, were sent to the scene, alongside officers from West Mercia Police.

A West Midlands Ambulance spokesman said: "On arrival, ambulance staff they found a man who had suffered very serious injuries.

"Ambulance staff carried out advanced clinical care on the pedestrian, but unfortunately it was not possible to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

"There were no other patients.

A police investigation is under way and officers are urging anyone who witnessed the fatal crash to come forward.

A spokesman for West Mercia Police said: "We are appealing for witnesses following a fatal collision in Stourport.

"Shortly after 7am, a collision took place between a lorry and a pedestrian on Worcester Road.

"The pedestrian, a man in his 40s, sustained serious injuries and sadly died at the scene. His next of kin has been informed.

"Road closures were in place whilst emergency services were in attendance.

"Investigating officers would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident.

"If you have any information, please call 101 quoting incident number 72s of September 26."
