RAIL services in Hereford are facing major delays this morning after someone was hit by a train.

British Transport Police said one person had been killed in the incident, which is not being treated as suspicious.

A National Rail spokesperson said the incident took place near Cwmbran between Newport and Abergavenny.

All lines are currently blocked.

Train services into Wales may be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected until 12:30

Alternative travel arrangements are being made. Turners Coaches will shuttle passengers between Newport and Hereford (ETA 11am)

UPDATE 10.54am: National Rail said: "Lines have now reopened between Newport South Wales and Abergavenny following a person being hit by a train between these stations earlier today.

"Services are now returning to normal, however, trains may still be cancelled or delayed whilst service recovers."

More as we get it.
