PUPILS and staff from a school have held a fundraising day to support a Worcester schoolboy who is battling against leukaemia.

Regency High School, in Carnforth Drive, hosted the event for Oscar Saxelby-Lee, who is desperate to receive specialist CAR-T cell therapy in Singapore, which will save his life.

The family have launched a campaign to raise £500,000 for the treatment.

The campaign is the fastest-growing currently being hosted by charity fundraising site, Virgin Money Giving.

On Friday, September 27, the school held a Friends of Regency fundraising event where over £400 was raised.

Merie Eglesfield, chair of Friends of Regency said: “Regency High School is a school for children with additional needs and as such we are often on the receiving end of people's kindness. On this occasion it has been great to show how caring and generous our pupils and their parents/carers are, in raising over £400 for Oscar.

“Our site manager Kevin Beck secured three fantastic prizes for our raffle and we are still selling tickets, of which all of the money will be going to support Oscar.”

The draw will be on October 11.
