THE grizzly tale of Sweeney Todd and his pie-making sidekick Mrs Lovett will be brought to life by a Wordsley theatre group this month.

Wordsley Amateur Dramatic Society will perform the dark Victorian melodrama at Crestwood School from October 10 to 12.

Director Mark Jones said: "Throughout the play, the audience will meet a variety of eccentric Victorian London characters, from Burke and Hare, to the infamous Judge Turpin who convicted Todd for a crime he did not commit. It is set to be a night of thrills, laughs and plenty of pies."

The play explores the dark deeds of barber Sweeney Todd as he vows to avenge the judge who wronged him by wielding his razor blade.

Tickets are £10 or £8 for concessions and can be booked by calling 01384270228 or 07773397509 or emailing wordsleyamdram@outlook.com.
