A PLAN to build 27 affordable homes near Worcester has been submitted.

RCA Regeneration, based in Droitwich, wants to build the homes on overgrown and disused lane in Broomhall Grange off Norton Road in Norton.

The plans include two one-bed maisonettes, 15 two-bed terraced homes and ten three-bed semi-detached homes.

The 27-homes plan would fall within proposals in the South Worcestershire Development Plan (SWDP) which set out a broad desire to build 2,600 homes, employment space, shops and a primary school around Norton and Broomhall.

The land, next to Little Treasures Nursery and Preschool, is currently overgrown and disused.

A different application for 37 homes on the same land was rejected by Malvern Hills District Council (MHDC) in 2013 and an appeal of the planning application was rejected. Another plan for 28 homes was rejected in 2014.

The plan also includes 40 per cent green space on the site which would address previous concerns in past planning applications about the lack of green space, say RCA Regeneration.

A number of plans have already been approved around the proposed 37-home site in Norton.

The huge developments, which were approved between 2017 and January this year, include a massive £500 million, 2,204-home 'super village between St Peter's and Kempsey, and a 255-homes plan next to the A4440 on the edge of the city.

Plans were also revealed last week to build nine new homes on a two acre site in nearby Broomhall Lane - on the very southern tip of the planned development area.

The plans can be viewed via the planning section of MHDC's website. The application number is 19/01336/FUL. Consultation on the plan ends on November 1.
