WORCESTER’S country music roadhouse the Silver Dollar Honkytonk is announcing a special last-minute bonus gig.

The Californian country/Americana singer Alice Wallace will take to the stage at the Marr’s Bar tomorrow night (Thursday), at 8pm.

Sarah Jeffery of the Silver Dollar Honkytonk said: “Alice is a tremendously talented singer and songwriter, whose voice and performance has been compared to some of the greats of country music, such as Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt.

"‘Saving Country Music’ calls her voice 'a powerful natural occurrence...an awe-striking wonder of the West'.

"News is spreading about the platform that the Silver Dollar Honkytonk offers to touring American and UK country artists, and we were approached to host Alice as she tours the UK in support of her new album ‘Into The Blue’.

"She has been on our wish-list for ages and we just couldn’t risk letting her pass us by.”

Alice brings her three-piece band with her and support for this very special one-off gig will be provided in the form of a stomping country set by the mighty Marzy and The Marr’s Bar House Band.

Sarah adds: “If you love country music and you want to support live acts appearing in Worcester’s very vibrant music scene, please come out and join us for a brilliant night with Alice and her band – we’d love to welcome you to the Honkytonk!”

Calvin Fowler, a country fan from Worcester who attended the August gig featuring Ags Connolly and Kate Ellis, added: “I’m really glad that the Silver Dollar Honkytonk is bringing exciting American and British country acts to Worcester.

"We have needed a consistent country music venue in Worcester for a long time and they are putting on great gigs and featuring brilliant acts. Come along and join us.”

Tickets are on sale at silverdollarhonkytonk.co.uk or on the door from 8pm.
