AN 88-year-old man died in a crash near Tenbury Wells yesterday afternoon (Wednesday), and it's believed he lost control of his car after a medical episode.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to reports of a two-car crash on the A456 Worcester Road in Burford, near the Tenbury Show Ground at 3:08pm

Two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance from Cosford attended the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “Crews arrived to find a serious RTC involving two cars.

"One of the drivers, a man, was found in a critical condition.

"Ambulance staff worked as a team to administer advanced life support, but sadly, despite their best efforts nothing could be done to save him and he was confirmed dead at the scene.

“The driver of the second car, a man, was treated on scene for minor injuries before being taken to Hereford County Hospital for further assessment.”

West Mercia Police believe he suffered a medical episode at the wheel, losing control of his vehicle and striking the other car.

The driver of the second car suffered neck injuries but is in a stable condition. 

The family of the man who died have been notified and officers are supporting them at this very sad time.
