SCAMMERS are targeting people across Herefordshire, with a spate of complaints made to police over the weekend.

Police said a Credenhill resident was called by a person claiming to be DC Martin Rose 3321 on November 23.

The caller claimed that foreign exchange transactions had been made at a supermarket and asked about the victim's bank details.

A Weobley resident received a similar call on the same day, with the caller claiming to be DC Martin Anderson 3321. The scammer asked for bank details before asking the resident to go to a local supermarket and draw money out in blank travellers cheques.

While in Ocle Pychard, a resident was told their bank card had been compromised in Sainsbury's, and was asked for their bank details by a person claiming to be PC John Cooper 3321.

Police will never ask for bank details, and will not ask for money to be withdrawn from bank accounts.
