A REDDITCH hotel put a spin on Black Friday this year to surprise and delight selected guests with random acts of kindness.

The team at Holiday Inn Express Redditch left black envelopes containing vouchers, beauty gifts and chocolate treats in guest rooms for those checking in during the international shopping event.

Louise Reid, general manager of Holiday Inn Express Redditch, said: β€œIt was great to spread some early festive cheer to our guests on Black Friday.

"Everyone was delighted with their gifts and the team here loved offering random acts of kindness throughout the day.”

Black Friday, which is an American tradition, started in the UK in 2013, but is remembered for fights breaking out as shoppers hunted for bargains in some stores.

More retailers have taken part in the following years and the sales period has started to stretch out over a long weekend to include Cyber Monday.
