A FLEET of tractors trundled their way through Bewdley on Boxing Day in an annual event which raised thousands for charity.

The Boxing Day Tractor Run, which has been running for the last five years, saw large crowds witness nearly a hundred modern and vintage tractors travel across Wyre Forest.

A procession of 91 tractors travelled from the Far Forest Sports Pavillion at Callow Hill to Button Oak and then onto Severnside South in Bewdley.

People lined the streets in Bewdley to welcome the tractors on what was a cold and wet Boxing Day.

A total of £2448 raised from the run and bucket collections will support the Kidderminster and Worcestershire Prostate Cancer Support Group.

The event organisers are Ray Attwood and Tony Pain from the National Vintage Tractor and Engine Club Alveley Group.

Treasurer of the support group and Tractor Run planner Paul Markall said: "The run has been going on for the last five years supporting our charity.

"The turnout was tremendous. We had people lining both side of the road through Bewdley Town Centre.

"We raised £2448 for the support group. The money is primarily raised by the tractor drivers themselves. We have had donations from local businesses as well.

"We were concerned that the turnout may have been effected by rain being threatened, but I have never seen so many people at the run."
