A PLAN has been lodged to convert a former Stourport church hall into new town houses.

Following the purchase of Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, on Lickhill Road, a proposal has been made to renovate the building into five new homes.

The Kingdom Hall was relocated to a modern facility at Hume Street in Kidderminster. The Lickhill Road building was originally built in 1885 as a Primitive Methodist Hall.

According to the plans, the conversion will consider the distinctiveness of the existing chapel building and no significant changes will be made to the external appearance.

The main hall will be split into four houses over three floors and will provide kitchen, dining, lounge and bathroom areas with one bedroom.

The ground floor annex will be converted into a disabled-friendly apartment and the rear of the property will be shared into four garden allotments.

A total of two off street parking spaces are proposed at the front of the building. Other allocated parking has been agreed with owners of the social club directly opposite and arrangements are being finalised for the long term lease of the ground.

The agent has been contacted by The Shuttle for further comment.
