TWO brothers from Malvern have raised more than £1,000 for two charities after putting on their annual Christmas lights display.

Tom and Tim Leaman, from Beauchamp Road in Malvern Link, once again decorated their house to raise money for good causes.

Together they were able to raise £1,160 to be split between Fort Royal School in Worcester and the Midlands Air Ambulance.

The display features classical Christmas decorations and lights with the addition of a Santa’s Grotto for youngsters and their families to enjoy.

Tom Leaman said: “My brother and I would just like to thank everyone who came and donated and enjoyed the lights and also the children who enjoyed seeing Santa in his Grotto.”

The money will be split between the school, which cares for children with advanced and complicated educational needs, and the air ambulance.

Each group will receive £580 from the brothers.

2019’s efforts have smashed last year’s total, when more than £600 was raised for Fort Royal and Guide dogs for the blind.

The brothers have been raising money for charity for the last six years after deciding to do something different, having typically decorated it before.

The brothers have chosen Fort Royal in recent years as they have a family member at the school.

They chose Guide Dogs for the Blind before that because of another family member who is visually impaired.

Last year, the brothers donated £406.61 to Fort Royal Community Primary School, which helped it to raise £17,000 for a new minibus.

The appeal also raised £229.96 for Guide Dogs for the Blind.

When the brothers set up their display before Christmas, head teacher of Fort Royal Ed Francis said: “We are very pleased that they fundraise for us each year, it makes a big contribution to the school.

“The money raised gives the students something they might not normally get and I know some of the children go with their parents to see the lights.

“They are always saying how special it is and it brings some joy to everyone, brightening up those dark evenings.

“We are very grateful for the contribution they make each year as our children are among the most needy children in the county so it is a wonderful thing that brings a bit of joy to everyone.”
