WELLINGTON Heath's scarecrow trail and competition last summer was a popular success for locals and visitors alike.

And a calendar based on the trail, together with a calendar featuring dogs, have also proved to be popular.

A notice on the village's website has revealed that 107 calendars in total have been sold, breaking down as 64 for the dogs and 43 for the scarecrows.

The sales raised a grand total of £201, and of that sum, £124 has gone to Christ Church funds and £77 for St Michael's Hospice.

Apart from various destinations in the UK calendars were also sent to South Africa, Canada and Australia.

The village, near Ledbury, hosted the scarecrow competition with the theme of “fictional character’, for two weeks from the end of last July, and all in aid of St. Michael’s Hospice.

Residents were encouraged make a scarecrow and put on show in their garden or window.
