A 28-year-old woman admitted unlawful wounding.

Sophie Ellis, of Slade Avenue, Worcester, pleaded guilty to the charge at a plea and trial preparation hearing held at Worcester Crown Court.

The particulars of the offence at that Ellis unlawfully and maliciously wounded Jamie Marshman on October 26 last year.

Ellis denied the other count put to her during the hearing on February 27, that she had committed unlawful wounding with intent.

Alex Warren, prosecuting, told Judge Nicholas Cartwright that the pleas entered were acceptable to the crown, and no evidence would be offered on the count on the indictment that Ellis had pleaded not guilty to.

Jason Patel, defending, said the defence was requesting a pre sentence report, adding he was asking for sentencing to take place in four weeks time, so that the report could be written.

Judge Cartwright then said he had received a letter from the victim adding if that now would be his victim personal statement.

Mr Patel replied: "In essence yes."

Ellis was asked to stand, and the judge told her that he was adjourned sentencing in her case until Thursday, March 26, so that a pre sentence report could be prepared.

The judge said Ellis had enjoyed unconditional bail, but he was adding one condition that she work with probation particularly looking into the option of her carrying out unpaid work as part of her sentence.

Judge Cartwright said: "The fact I'm adjourning (for the report) is no indication or promise as to what the sentence will be.

"That will be a matter for the jury or recorder."
