We’re used to being fully occupied, even over-occupied, but that was then and this is now.

It’s surprising how quickly boredom gets its foot in the door, however, there are lots of free resources to help us stay in shape. Here are just a few of them.

FITNESS FIRST

As emergency regulations mean that we can’t go out as much as normal and gym visits are totally out of the question, we could opt for some free online training. puregym.com and centr.com are good places to start and Joe Wicks at thebodycoach.com is offering free, daily 30-minute PE sessions for kids.

His YouTube videos also cater for beginners and seniors as well as regular trainers, something for everyone!

NOW FOR SOME RELAXATION

calm.com is offering free online meditation and mindfulness sessions for anyone, including the kids! So, whether you’re struggling to sleep or just need to switch off from the buzz of the day, Calm has something that may help.

HOME LEARNING

Masses of stuff available here: beginner's guitar lessons – justinguitar.com; French, German and Spanish lessons for students – rosettastone.com; and maths for children with Carol Vorderman – themathsfactor.com.

ENTERTAINMENT

Ever been to the opera? Well, now is the time to give it a go. The Royal Opera House is offering free videos of performances on YouTube and Facebook, simply search for the ROH and take your pick.

For the kids, Amazon’s audiobook library, Audible, is offering free stories for children, so whether it’s Winnie the Pooh or Brave New World, there’s something for every child who enjoys a good book.

If you have any ideas to stave off the boredom or to keep the kids entertained I would love to hear from you.
