A RETIRED carpenter from Wythall cheered up his neighbours during the lockdown with a performance of Elvis Presley classics.

Singer Frank Wilkins set up his speakers outside and delighted residents of St Mary's Park with a tribute to the King of Rock N Roll yesterday morning (Sunday, April 5).

The 73-year-old started performing for his neighbours on the previous Sunday, singing feel good hits from Tom Jones, Neil Diamond and Lionel Ritchie.

Residents asked him if he could strut his stuff as Elvis for his next public performance.

Mr Wilkins said: "The response was great. The amount of people that came out was brilliant.

"They all kept their two metres. They were all up for it, swinging and clapping. I just love to sing.

"It's a very very worrying time for people of our age."

"Someone said it was a real tonic for the them and one said I had made their day."

He says next week he will be back to perform numbers from iconic musicals.
