OVER 150 people took part in an initiative to encourage residents to eat dinner at their windows, balconies or doors, while still staying indoors during the coronavirus pandemic.
The River School has organised the Eat With Your Street project which was attended by 153 local residents on Tuesday (April 7).
The idea is to build on the Clap For Your Carers experience and encourage people to share a meal together by eating at the same time in sight of each other; for six minutes at 6pm every Tuesday.
Jean Heath, member of The Friends of the River School and part of the organising team said: “We are absolutely heartened by the fabulous support for our #EatWithYourStreet initiative.
“As a school our sense of community is paramount to us and to see this replicated throughout the city is very uplifting, particularly during such uncertain and isolating times.
“We would like to encourage as many people as possible to reach out – metaphorically! – to their friends and neighbours next Tuesday at 6pm.”
