IT was heartbreaking hearing the news a county nurse had died while self isolating with coronavirus symptoms.

Julie Omar was one of the many selfless people fighting to keep us safe and healthy on a daily basis. All she wanted to do was help patients, and it cost her her life.

We must not let the staff of the NHS become the forgotten victims of coronavirus. We all more than ever have to do our part and stay indoors.

It is not just about whether we catch coronavirus, it is about the hundreds, maybe even thousands of other people we could pass it on to. If we do not follow the rules and stay indoors, many more NHS staff will die directly resulting from our selfish actions.

We must also call on our politicians to make sure out health workers get the protective equipment they need. More than 30 NHS staff have died already, and it will be many more if the delays and shortages continue.

As great a gesture as it is, we shouldn't be relying on school science labs and design teachers to provide something the government should prioritise.
