A ROAD was closed in Kidderminster after a void appeared in the road surface.

The A4535 Sutton Road was closed by Worcestershire County Council Highways on Thursday afternoon (June 25) after a hole appeared in the road near to the junction with Talbot Street.

The Highways team said that, although the hole is not large, there were concerns that the structure beneath may be weak.

Sutton Road was closed for safety reasons and a diversion was put in place via the ring road. The road has since been made safe.

A spokesman for Worcestershire County Council said: "The area has been made safe so that the road can reopen, and we will be revisiting and investigating thoroughly."

Another void appeared in the road surface in Heightington Road in Bewdley earlier this month, prompting the road to be closed for several days for safety reasons until repairs could be carried out.
