TRAFFIC is expected to pick up this weekend as pubs, restaurants and hairdressers re-open for the first time in over 100 days.

If you are planning to travel into the city centre over the weekend be aware that temporary traffic lights in Deansway will still be in operation - meaning delays are expected.

Severn Trent Water are digging up the road after a sewer collapse last Saturday caused the road to sink.

To reach the sewer, workers had to “dig down” to “determine what had caused the issue with the road.”

A spokesman added: “We’re really sorry for any inconvenience.

“It will be our priority to fix them [problems] and get everything back to normal as quickly as possible.”

Worcester Highways and Travel today tweeted: "Works by @stwater on the collapsed sewer at Deansway #Worcester - temporary 2-way traffic lights will remain in place over the weekend
