PERSHORE Rugby Club just failed to upset Midlands Three West (South) leaders Old Coventrians in a 10-10 draw.
The Wyre Piddle-based side have a game in hand over second-placed Old Leamingtonians but are five points behind. On a boggy pitch, Pershore remained unbeaten in the league since slumping 74-21 at Old Coventrians in September.
The hosts took an early lead as a clever Alex Peel pass was gathered by winger Stefan Ellis who sped in under the posts.
Lewis Dolphin converted and Pershore dominated in tricky conditions only to be frustrated by the referee’s whistle.
Prop Lee Synnuck was sinbinned for stamping and the visitors went ahead through a converted try and penalty.
In a scrappy second period, the hosts levelled with a penalty but lost Steve Holmes to the sin-bin.
