PERSHORE’S small team of eight came away with five gold medals from the competitive level two Gloucester Open.

They added three silvers, two bronzes, a Midlands qualifying time and 29 personal bests against big city clubs such as Bristol and Cardiff.

Head coach Tom Naughton said: “This is one of the tougher meetings on the calendar and attracts strong competition from the bigger clubs in the south-west and the Midlands.

“To come away with so many podiums, personal bests and another swimming with a Midlands time is a fantastic result.”

Isabella Woodcock was again a force to be reckoned with in the 10-year-old girls’ breaststroke, winning a 50- metre gold in a pb of 41.18 seconds and a 100m silver in one minute 30.03 seconds for her first Midlands qualifying time.
