EVESHAM Rugby Club edged a tight contest 15-12 at Bishops Castle and Onny Valley in the RFU Midlands Junior Vase second round.
The Vale club were always ahead in a hard-fought tie against a Castle side without six first-team regulars.
Evesham are in excellent form this season and have won four of their last five matches.
The second-placed side hope to continue their winning form at home to Coventry Welsh, who are eighth in Midlands Four West (South), on Saturday (2.15pm).
Meanwhile, Pershore fell to a disappointing 17-3 defeat at Willenhall in the RFU Midlands Senior Vase second round.
They aim to bounce back at home to Bedworth on Saturday in Midlands Three West (South).
Pershore are third in the division — one place and one point better off than Bedworth.
Bredon Star eye their third Gloucester One win of the season at bottom-of-the-table Old Colstonians on Saturday.
