PERSHORE’S boys were dominant at the popular Aquae Sulis Spring Grand Prix.

Two swimmers won medals in Bristol’s 50-metre pool at Hengrove Leisure Centre alongside a string of long-course personal bests.

Will Gearey won the coveted top boy award for the 12-year-olds in the level-one event, which comprised results from two open competitions, with club-mate Simon Sweatman third.

Leading after the first event in November, Gearey produced eight PBs and bagged four medals against strong opposition.

He took silver in the 100m butterfly in one minute 10.96 seconds and rose to number two in the United Kingdom long-course rankings for his age group.

Gearey claimed bronze in the 200m individual medley (2.36.50) for third in the UK and two more thirds in the 50m breaststroke (39.77) and 50m freestyle (28.94), where he tops the rankings.

Sweatman ensured back-to-back silvers in his favoured 100m (1.12.77) and 200m backstroke (2.34.85) with a top-25 ranking spot in the latter.

His six-second PB in the 400m freestyle (4.47.62) bagged the bronze medal and ensured a top-25 place.
