TWENTY-four Evesham seniors split into pairs to contest the Ray Till Tankards in fine spring weather at Evesham.
The Greensomes Bogey off the white tees provided a big test as even a par score on a hole only counted as a half.
Alan Groves and Steve Deakin were the only duo to beat the course, winning with a score of +1.
Malcolm Hiscock and Bryan Rogers (-1) were runners-up, with John Smith and Michael Morris (-3) securing third place on count-back.
Club stalwart Peter Edmunds presented a bottle of champagne for the competition’s senior captain’s charity raffle for St Richard’s Hospice, in memory of his father-in-law.
Thirty-eight Evesham ladies played in the Jenny Marston Trophy Flag medal competition over 18 holes, with members placing a flag in the ground when they had run out of shots.
Dee Machin won with 74 nett, followed by captain Joan Hunt on 78.
Meanwhile, an eagle three on the par-five 17th hole proved vital as Stuart Ridley won Evesham's Rotary Cup on count-back.

Division One: 1 Ridley (8 handicap 73 nett), 2 Ben Thompson 73. Division Two: 1 Daniel Malins (17-73), 2 Ian Tait 73.
