THE clay shoot at Childswickham Gun Club was dedicated to a founder member.
The Norman Morgan Challenge Cup saw members required to use a side-by-side orientated gun rather than the more modern and widely-used over-and-under version.
With squally weather conditions far from ideal, targets were unpredictable.
But there was some fairly impressive shooting and skill on display particularly from long-standing club member Paul Colley who returned 32/40 to take the honours.
Second was Mike Walton with 30/40 and third Dave Taylor with 23/30.
The overall joint high gun of the day was shared by David Galbraith and Richard Taylor albeit using entry level over and unders with 34/40.
With conditions improving the regular charity pool shoot was set up and Colley and his side-by-side claimed the spoils following a sudden-death shoot-off with Galbraith.
The next event is a practice club shoot on Sunday, August 26.
