PERSHORE had mixed fortunes across the Bank Holiday weekend with a win and a defeat in Birmingham & District Division Two.

On Saturday 215 for eight proved enough for 47-run victory at Sutton Coldfield, thanks to a stunning seven-wicket haul from Matt Brace.

Just 12 runs were shipped as Sutton went from a position of power on 134 for one to 170 all out. Tom Eustace (80) and Lee Thomason (50) got the hosts off to their flying start.

Chris Miles top scored with 67 not out for Pershore. Graham Clark claimed four wickets for 29 runs for Sutton.

But heroes were in short supply on Monday as the best efforts of Andrew Hall and Taylor Pugh could not prevent a 51-run loss to Streetly at The Bottoms.

The duo took three wickets apiece to restrict Streetly to 166 for eight but the hosts collapsed with the bat. Pugh was 24 not out and Hill notched 19 as part of a 115 all-out total. Pershore travel to C&R Hawks on Saturday (noon).

  • EVESHAM’S blast with the bat went to waste as rain stopped play at Worcester Nomads on Saturday.

The visitors had rattled off 263 for eight with Muhammad Saqib’s 53 from 46 deliveries followed by 39 from 23 balls by tail-ender Adnan Sagheer.

That was it for the action, though, and Evesham had to make do with the nine points that sees them sat third in Worcestershire Division One going into Saturday’s trip to Burghill, Tillington & Weobley (12.30).

  • BREDON lost by 56 runs at home to Himbleton in Division Two.

The visitors hit 176 for eight despite the best efforts of Kevin Wilkins (3-36) and Richard Bruce (2-34) with the ball, the latter providing four maiden overs to stifle the scoring.

However, Martyn Draper (32) and Jamie Munro (29*) offered the only credible resistance in response to leave Bredon all out for 120 from less than 40 overs.

Bredon hope to bounce back when they head to second-bottom Kempsey on Saturday (12.30).
