LITTLETON got knocked out of the FA Vase second qualifying round with a 1-0 home defeat to Smethwick.
But they had the better chances to win the game comfortably and advance further in the competition than before.
The Ton Boys started strongly and almost took the lead on five minutes with a volley from Steve Edghill going just off target.
They put on more pressure and created several chances but the best came on 26 minutes when awarded a penalty they failed to convert.
The second half was more even with Smethwick coming more into the game.
Following a foul on the edge of the box Sanjeen Johal curled the free-kick just under the bar to beat keeper Josh Rogers on 73 minutes.
Littleton pressed forward but could not make the vital breakthrough despite 10 minutes of injury-time.
They visit Leicester Road in Midland League Division One on Saturday (3pm) and then go to Studley on Tuesday in the Worcestershire FA Senior Urn (7.45pm).
