LITTLETON Bowling Club held their annual memorial day with 28 members competing in a triples game.

Pouring rain and a cold wind failed to dent the spirits as players paid tribute to former team-mates.

Brenda Kendry won the game with Andrew Auger runner-up.

Money raised helped beat the target of £1,200 as Littleton bid to buy a defibrillator.

Pat and Jim Elliott, Margaret Dunkley, Annette Gensler, Jeanette Barnes, Pat McGiven and John Riley helped organise the day.

Littleton also held a presentation of cups, trophies and vouchers from the outdoor season with 60 members attending.

Two younger members reached the national finals at Leamington Spa and got through to the third round in the men's pairs.

Littleton's women finished second in the Concorde League and the men fourth.

The blue team won the Monday night triples League with the gold team fourth.

Meanwhile, Littleton's Geoff Roberts has successfully completed the level one BDA coaching course.

He will join Dave Smith in offering tuition to people who have never bowled before.

The five-week course will follow an introductory session on a Tuesday in the early evening beginning in early October on the indoor rinks.

A maximum of eight people can be catered for with equipment provided and a nominal fee charged to cover utility bills.

To book, contact Smith on 01386 832421 or Roberts on 078177 16018.
