ASHLEY Beech picked up 12th and 17th places for Vale team Jones Dorling Racing at Cheshire's Oulton Park in the British Superstock Series 1000.

On the new Suzuki GSXR1000, Beech was 10th in practice in wet conditions with Cameron Fraser and Ewen Potter 19th and 20th respectively on the Yahama 600s.

Beech qualified in 12th for his first race, improving his lap time to one minute 38 seconds.

Fraser and Potter also knocked seconds off their lap times to qualify in 18th and 21st.

Beech rode an intelligent race while still learning the bike, going up to ninth and down to 17th before surging through to cross the line in 12th.

The next day saw changeable weather which meant last-minute decisions on settings and tyres.

The full dry tyres had to be quickly changed to wets with light rain starting to fall.

Potter ran out of time and had to start from back of grid but battled past Fraser before high-siding on the quickly-drying track.

Fraser finished 18th while Beech's second race was also a gamble on tyres with him managing 17th.

There was lots learnt ready for the final round in two weeks at Brands Hatch.
