LEE Jones grabbed the glory at a special event on the Broadway Golf Club calendar.

With a score of 64, Jones won by three from Michael Harris in the Tilbrook Cup, a competition held in memory of ex-president, captain, competition secretary and honorary secretary Ian Tilbrook who crafted the trophy with his own hands.

Steve Webb and Ben Beacham who took third and fourth places, each registering 68.

Rhiannon Gadsby-Evans took top position in Division One of the final England Golf Medal of the season.

Elaine Hickin (76) sealed a close second with Maggie McDivitt (77) third.

Camilla Haines (73) won Division Two ahead of her mother Pauline Russell (74). Ange Sollis (75) was third.

SHOOTING

IAN Holmes came in from the cold to sweep aside his rivals and successfully defend Childswickham Gun Club's annual down the line competition.

Holmes had not been around for a while due to work duties but proved a crack shot with 62 out of 75, nine more than closest rival and guest Jackie Cotton (53).

Childswickham regulars John Arnold and Phil Clarke finished joint third on 48.

The next shoot will be for the Mike Emms Compact Sporting on Sunday, October 28.

TABLE TENNIS

THE Evesham and District Table Tennis season got under way with five matches in Division One.

Two league favourites were paired with JLM Kites beating Wyre Elite 7-3 as Christoph Zickert went undefeated for the latter side.

Wayne Chopping made an impressive league debut for JLM Buzzards, winning all three including over Steve Cull and Jack Davies, in a draw against club-mates JLM Ospreys.

JLM Hawks won 7-3 at Littleton Jets as Mike Bounds defeated Ali Witherford.

Bengeworth Purple triumphed at JLM Sunrisers with Dougie Allen undefeated.

Littleton Positives hosted below-strength JLM Dragonflies whose new signing Chris Hewitt was undefeated in a creditable draw.

The following week, Dragonflies lost 7-3 at Littleton Aces and pace-setters Kites won 9-1 against Ospreys with Luke Moffat and Dave Harvey both undefeated.

Hawks won again, defeating Kington Bulldogs 7-3 with skipper Mark Hale unbeaten.

Positives defeated Purple 7-3 with Nick Mytton and Doug Payne securing maximums.

A strong Elite side defeated division newcomers Littleton Dolphins 9-1 as Jamie Chinn-Brown defeated Darrell Wiltshire.

SKITTLES

EVESHAM Skittles League has tweaked its format in a bid to heighten competition and interest.

The first round of the King Pin Cup kicked off with the losers from each match and Donnington Heroes moving on to the Knockout Cup which takes place on Tuesday, November 6. Round two of the King Pin takes place on Thursday, November 8.

Registration for all other cup games takes place at Ecgwins Private Members' Club, Evesham on Wednesday, November 7.
