NORTH Cotswold Tri & Run's Dennis Walmsley is the V55 British Masters champion.

Walmsley ran a well-paced 1:49:59 to claim the crown at the MBNA Chester Marathon.

Pippa Brown (3:53:29) and Lisa Cartilage (4:09:12) ran personal bests at the event.

Elsewhere, Nicola Wemyss (1:41) secured a personal best by three minutes in a half marathon in her home city of Cardiff.

James Dunn followed suit in the Oxford Half, clocking 1.49.19.

Mike Hobbs ran a strong Cricklade Half to finish as third V40 and 15th overall (1.25.18).

  • HOME angler Les Haines won Shipston AC's Peter Jackson Trophy.

The 10-round over-65s league ended at Halford Bridge with a low-tide contest won by Colin Barratt (3lb 06oz) ahead of Malcolm Allinson (1lb 14oz) and Henry Sadler (1 lb 05oz).

Haines totalled 65 points across the competition with Alan Watkins second on 60 and Dave Smith (Newbury AC) on 58.
