EVESHAM'S Jones Dorling Racing have signed a new rider for next year in Ben Godfrey.

The 23-year-old from Long Eaton will join after a strong finish to 2018, consistently finishing in the points and securing a double win at Assen in the BeNe Superbike Championship.

Godfrey will be piloting the Suzuki GSXR 1000, which he already has experience with, and is raring to go with a busy testing schedule beginning in Spain in the coming weeks.

He said: “I am extremely excited to be joining Jones Dorling Racing for the 2019 National Superstock 1000 Championship.

"A huge thank you to Chris Jones for giving me this opportunity. We have been speaking for a couple of months about this possibility and we finally signed on the dotted line.

"We have a great testing programme in place and I look forward to throwing my leg over the JDR machine before Christmas.

"The team come with some great support which makes this possible and I hope to put them where they all deserve to be."

The last round of the championship saw the team continue to test settings on the new Suzuki 1000.

Ashley Beech qualified on row eight of the grid and improved to cross the line 23rd in tricky conditions with heavy rain showers.

On the Yamaha 600s, Cameron Fraser and Ewan Potter qualified 22nd and 26th respectively.

Potter then finished 23rd while Fraser boosted his position to 18th.
