EVESHAM Swimming Club secured nine golds at the Wychavon Invitational Meet.

Sixty members competed with 10 silvers and 13 bronzes also among the medal haul at Worcester's Perdiswell Leisure Centre.

The club also achieved 205 personal best times and now have 12 qualified for the 2019 Worcester County Championships which is their best number for several years.

Head coach Graham Begley said “I am immensely proud of our squad of swimmers.

"Since I took over in January this year I have watched our swimmers train hard, improve their technique and improve their swim times significantly.

"The weekend culminated in a record number of medals for them and shows that hard work and commitment really does pay off.

"I am really excited to see how the club develops in 2019.”

Abby Tustin (15/u) won gold in the 50m breaststroke and three silvers while Daisy Gregg (11/u) took a hat-trick of golds in the 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke.

Chloe Honeywell (9/u) secured gold in the 25m freestyle as well as two silvers and two bronzes.

Josh Hennessy (12/u) got a gold in the 200m freestyle, a silver and two bronzes.

Thomas Shakespeare (8/u) achieved two golds in the 25m butterfly and freestyle.

With more competitions planned for 2019 the club will look for continued success.
