EVESHAM players enjoyed success at the Butterfly Worcestershire Schools' Individual Junior Table Tennis Championships at the town's St Egwin's School.

Beth Pye of Bredon Hill Academy was crowned girls' under 13s champion with Lexi Clarke of Blackminster Middle taking the under 11s honours.

The under 13s girls competed in a round-robin format with all six from schools in Evesham.

Anna Blakely from Blackminster lost 3-2 to Reid from St Egwin's in one of the matches of the day.

Ciara Webb and Pippa Thomas from St Egwin's and Matilda Neale from Blackminster also competed.

Pye remained undefeated with a crucial 3-0 win over second-placed Reid clinching the title while Blakely finished third.

The under 11s girls also had a six-player round-robin format.

Phoebe Allcock, Elmarie Lourens, Madison Millar and Katie Fisher from Littleton put in a fine effort against the slightly older girls Clarke and Sophie George of St Egwin's.

Clarke maintained her 100 per cent record by beating second-placed George 3-1 while Fisher was third.

For the boys' under 11s, three St Nicholas Middle School pupils from Pinvin reached the semi-finals.

Henry Guy beat Joshua Sanders 3-1 and David Morrish lost 3-0 to Alex Setchell from Meadow Green Primary, Wythall, who then defeated Guy 3-1 in the final.

Sanders beat Morrish 3-2 for third spot.

The under 13s involved three Blackminster players in the latter stages.

Alfie Saunders lost 3-0 to Ben Thacker of Heathfield Knoll School, Wolverley, in the final after seeing off Danny Norman 3-0 in the semis.

Harvey Gough was third after going down 3-0 to Thacker in the last four but then defeating Norman 3-0 in the play-off.

The winners will represent Worcestershire at the national finals in Wolverhampton on April 27.
