How they rated:
Harriers 4, Chester 1
Hall: Did have a great deal to do but did position well for shot from range and collected well when required. 6.
Austin: Came in at right back following the departure of Lee Vaughan and worked hard to get forward when the chance arrived. Put in a few good crosses. 6.
Taylor: Returned from a loan spell at Halesowen and made his mark at left-back. Powerful runs with the ball and linked up well in attack. Composed on the ball to play out of trouble. 7.
Weeks: Fine half volley for Harriers’ equaliser and played well alongside Butterfield in midfield. Good range of passing and played a lot more positively as his side got on the front foot. 7.
Horsfall: Towering showing from the centre back who won his duel in the air and dealt well with the presence of Waring. 7.5.
Johnson: Another that was soon in the thick of the action against Waring early on but defended well and also showed the composure on the ball to find a pass into midfield on more than one occasion. On hand to provide the finish for his side’s key third goal. 7.
Clayton-Phillips: Some eye-catching running from the Albion loanee. Played in a more central role behind Ironside and seemed to relish the position as he drove at the heart of the Chester defence. 7.
Butterfield: The academy graduate showed his potential with a powerful performance. Won the ball back in midfield on a number of occasional but also showed his ability on the ball when gliding away from challenges. Also cleared one Chester effort off the line. More to come. 7.
Ironside: Held the ball up brilliantly at times and linked play. Always a handful and put his side ahead on the stroke of half time. 7.5.
Chambers: Worked as hard as ever but struggled push out on the right to have the impact he’d have liked. Did head back to Weeks for the equaliser. 6.
McAlinden: Brilliant performance from the former Wolves prospect. Had a hand in three of his side’s goals as he found the killer pass time and time again. 8.
Subs:
Williams: Goalscoring return and his ability with the ball at his feet was soon on display. His return from injury will be a huge boost. 7.
Truslove: Came off the bench late on and had a far post header ruled out for offside. 6.
White: Late change as Harriers saw out the closing stages. Had a few neat touches. N/A.
Unused subs: Higginson, Weaver.
