EVESHAM Rugby Club jumped two places to eighth in Midlands Two West (South) following a confidence-boosting 28-12 home victory over Southam.
A combination of solid defence and effective counter-attacking play saw Evesham ease to a 15-0 lead at half-time with tries for Fred Hopper and Ashely Icke.
Tom Williams converted one try and added a penalty before the break.
Southam fought back in the second half with two tries but Williams capped a fine performance at outside-half for Evesham, securing victory with two further penalties and a converted try all of his own making.
A revitalised Evesham now prepare for the visit of league leaders Kenilworth on Saturday (2.15pm).
Meanwhile, Bredon Star drew 27-27 at home to fellow strugglers North Bristol in Gloucestershire One.
Second-from-bottom Star visit fifth-placed Old Colstonians on Saturday.
Pershore return to action on Saturday at home to Kings Norton in Midlands Four West (South).
