EVESHAM were soundly beaten 39-5 by visiting leaders Kenilworth in Midlands Two West (South).
But the hosts took the game to their higher-ranked opponents, dominating territory in the first half.
They scored the first try through Ashley Icke but Kenilworth weathered the storm and sneaked 10-5 in front at the break before unleashing their own assault in the second half to take maximum points.
Despite the loss Evesham's coaching staff are in buoyant mood as the quality of the first-half performance gives them something to build from for the rest of the season.
Evesham remain in eighth position in the table.
They have a weekend off before a visit to third-placed Kidderminster Carolians on March 2.
Pershore lost 29-20 at home to Kings Norton in Midlands Four West (South).
Bredon Star crashed 60-0 at Old Colstonians in Gloucestershire One.
