The Robins boosted their Southern League Division One South promotion hopes by winning 1-0 at Larkhall Athletic on Saturday but teams under the play-off places still have the games in hand to overhaul them.

However, Collicutt is still looking up the table and has not given up hope of catching leaders Blackfield & Langley despite being 14 points back.

“With 10, 11 or 12 teams able to give themselves a really good chance by putting together a run, I think it is too tight to call,” said Collicutt.

“The three teams at the top look like they are fighting it out, Cirencester are on a good run as well and they score goals for fun but you just don’t know.

“There is a lot of football to play and we have some interesting games with Blackfield & Langley away, Moneyfields at home and Cirencester away all to come.

“Until it is mathematically impossible we will keep playing to win the league, everyone is and it is not in my nature to give up.

“Yes, we are off the pace at the top but all we can do is keep winning games. Only then can we start to look at what other people are doing.”

The United manager hopes to have Joe Turley, Ashley Williams and Toumani Sidibe back for another stern test of his side’s credentials on Saturday, a trip to eighth-placed Street (3pm).

Will Tunnicliff remains a doubt while suspected ligament damage settles down.

“Will is responding to treatment, it is not as painful as it was and definitely improving but he won’t really know until he starts doing more,” added Collicutt.

“He feels better having received treatment at Hartpury College on top of our physio helping him too.

“We just have our fingers crossed that it is a strain rather than a tear. As tends to be the case with this type of injury, only time will tell.”

On the match, Collicutt said: “It will be difficult.

“They sit just outside the play-offs and have the momentum of being Western League champions. They will be a hard nut to crack.”
