PERSHORE Rugby Club will host their first multi-team under nines to 14s touch tournament on Sunday.

Seven teams of girls and boys from five clubs will play a round-robin of matches.

Minchinhampton, Stratford, Kings Norton and Kidderminster Carolians are also involved in the tournament from 10.20am until 12.30pm.

Spectators are welcome and there will be a barbecue and refreshements.

Pershore junior touch coach Jamie Wylie said: “Touch is a fast-growing sport across all ages since it is non-contact and can be played by any age group in mixed or single sex teams and is an excellent way to keep fit with its fast, open running and passing format.

“We have contacted the junior sections of many rugby clubs, locally and further afield and many have been keen to put up junior touch teams to come and play with ours. It is going from strength to strength.

“Adult leagues at local, regional, national and international levels mean there is also a natural progression for young players to continue with touch to the highest standard they can achieve if they wish.”

Touch training for under 13s takes place every Sunday from 10am until 11am at Pershore.

For over 13s, women and men, training is at the same time on a Sunday too and every Wednesday at 7.30pm.
