DEFENDER Kai Fisher’s short stint at Evesham United looks likely to end – even if he does not accept an offer from league rivals AFC Totton.

The Stags moved for the ex-Bristol Manor Farm defender over the weekend with Robins boss Paul Collicutt allowing them to talk to Fisher right away.

It comes on the back of a turbulent few weeks in which the centre-half missed his pick up for the trip to Street on March 2 and then could not train in midweek.

He was not in the squad for Saturday’s 4-0 home win against Fleet Town.

“Kai approached me about signing for Evesham after moving up to Kidderminster from Devon way,” said Collicutt.

“He came in and played a few games but unfortunately things have happened away from the club in his personal life.

“He missed his pick-up point for the game at Street the other week and we did not hear from him until the Monday. He was apologetic but you need people around you that are reliable and no call or message on the day did not help.

“Kai has found it difficult to train because of work as well and we need people who can be available, something he has found difficult.

“We have had an enquiry from Totton so we will have to see what pans out.”

On the prospect of Fisher, who has played six times and scored one goal for United, rejuvenating his Evesham career, Collicutt said: “I have had no contact with Kai, only via text message. I have no problem with him as a player, it is just everything else that comes with it at the minute.

“The door is open but for that to come to anything he needs to talk. When you are in the run-in you want all your players fit and available.”

Fisher’s likely exit adds to the concern over injured quartet Carl Brown (back), Linden Dovey (ankle), Liam Harding (knee) and Nick Hancock (hamstring) ahead of Saturday’s trip to Paulton Rovers in Southern League Division One South (3pm).

“We hope with a bit of rest that Liam and Linden have a chance but all of them will be assessed closer to the game,” added Collicutt.
