PROLIFIC striker John Pykett made an immediate impact on his debut for Stourport Swifts this week.

Pykett plundered a goal after just three minutes as Swifts went onto secure a commanding 3-1 win over AFC Wulfrunians.

Bromsgrove Sporting frontrunner Pykett has signed duel forms with Swifts and announced his arrival at Walshes Meadow by netting a 25 yard special.

Swifts boss Quentin Townsend said: “I have a very good relationship with Bromsgrove boss Brendan Kelly. He’s already let me have R’mar Murray for several games.

“It worked well this week as Bromsgrove Sporting didn’t have a game but I hope we can use John Pykett more often in the future."

Martin Slevin slammed home a second Swifts’ goal on the stroke of half time – and although Jake Webb pulled a goal back for Wulfs, Nick MacPherson sealed Swifts’ victory with a third on 66 minutes.

Townsend added: “I think the second goal knocked the stuffing out of Wulfs and although they pulled one back, I just couldn’t see us conceding another."

Swifts have climbed to 12th place in total Motion Midland Premier Division but Townsend is targeting a top 10 finish and has promised they’ll be no let up in their final six fixtures.

He said: “I’m really happy with the way things have gone for my first season in charge. It’s probably taken me longer than I thought to put my stamp on things, but I’ve learnt a great deal in that time.

“I also think the club is in a really good position to progress over the next two to three years especially as I’ve got a young squad who can only benefit from this season’s experience.

Swifts have no fixture this Saturday and Townsend admitted: “It’s not often you get a free weekend in March, although I do hate sitting at home on a Saturday."
