EVESHAM and Badsey won 5-1 at Stroud seconds in a clash of two teams facing relegation from West Clubs Women's Hockey League Severn Division One.

The Vale side scored in the first minute through Laura Moore before another strike from the captain was deflected in by Chelsea Southall.

Stroud pulled a goal back and pressured Evesham during much of the first half, forcing keeper Pip Webster to work hard to limit the scoreline.

Southall gave Evesham and Badsey a 3-1 half-time lead thanks to strong attacking from Hannah Davies and Lydia Webster on the right.

The second half saw the left-wing combination of Chloe Rodriguez and Emma Wormersley work tirelessly with left-back Zoe Miller to keep bringing the ball back up from the Evesham D.

Denise Southall managed a fine deflection for goal number four.

Again the defensive skills of Lucy Trevorrow, Drew Durband and keeper Webster were tested as the visitors conceded a number of penalty corners.

Shortly before the final whistle retiring captain Moore scored her second after a scramble in the D.
