WORCESTERSHIRE Rapids are set to select from an unchanged squad for Friday's Royal London One-Day Cup encounter with Northamptonshire Steelbacks at Wantage Road (11am).

First-team coach Alex Gidman confirmed that he would be able to choose from the same 13 players as they bid for a third win in four North Group games.

Eleven of those starred in Wednesday’s four-wicket win over Durham in a rain-affected game at Blackfinch New Road plus paceman Adam Finch and all-rounder George Rhodes.

Wicket-keeper Ben Cox, who hit an unbeaten 31 in the victory said he was delighted his side kept their cool to see off Durham.

“It is always difficult to work out where you are in the game in rain-affected matches,” Cox said.

“But to get the win after the loss at Leicester, to wrestle the momentum back, especially with the way this tournament is condensed, is important.

“Riki (Wessels) and Hamish (Rutherford) got us off to a flier there but if we are honest, we need to take responsibility and make sure we don’t get into a situation where it is nervy at the end.

“We did something similar at Durham last season and messed up on the Duckworth-Lewis. It was important we shook that one off and got over the line.

“Myself and Rosco (Whiteley) put on a nice little partnership there. As long as we took it deep, we knew we were going to be in the game because we scored quick enough and it worked out in our favour.”

The Rapids are currently lying in second spot in the group as a result of their superior net run rate with two wins from their opening three matches.

Northants have won one and lost three of their opening four games and presently occupy seventh position.
