ROB Collard got a podium place for Bidford-on-Avon team Sterling Insurance with Power Maxed Racing at the Kwik Fit MSA British Touring Car Championship.

Collard finished 10th, seventh and second to go 11th in the competition after the Donington Park meeting.

Team-mate Jason Plato clocked up ninth, sixth and seventh for 13th in the early standings after six rounds.

Collard said: “I'm very pleased to get my first podium for Sterling Insurance with Power Maxed Racing and Vauxhall.

"A lot of people wrote me off over the winter and I’m pleased to prove to the team and everybody that I’m here.

"I think our season started this weekend. Brands Hatch was a disaster from a tyre-choice point of view but we were quick this time and it’s all looking very positive going in to Thruxton (on May 18 and 19).”

Plato said: “It was not a bad weekend all in really. Testing promised a bit better but we’ve learnt more about the car, we’ve overtaken some people and had a decent weekend. Everyone’s happy and Rob’s had a great result."

Colin Turkington won two races at Donington Park with Tom Ingram claiming the other but Ashley Sutton leads the championship overall by three points from Josh Cook.

Power Maxed Racing's Russell Joyce finished eighth and sixth at Oulton Park in the Mk7 Golf at the inaugural round of the Volkswagen Racing Cup.

Joyce is fifth in the championship heading into the next rounds at Snetterton on May 18 and 19.
