WORCESTER’S Shay Ingram is heading to the European Championships after winning his first mixed martial arts fight.
The city ace defeated the previously-unbeaten Jack Starr in the first round by submission in two minutes 17 seconds.
Ingram, 15, has been selected to represent the United Kingdom Mixed Martial Arts Federation’s England cadet squad at the Euros on August 3 and 4 in Rome, Italy, after impressing at trials in Manchester.
The Tudor Grange Academy pupil, who is supported by Worcester's DP Boxing, enjoyed his debut MMA victory in the lightweight class at Moat House, Stoke, on the GPUK 39 Night of the Gladiators show.
