RUNNERS will be looking to break personal bests and long-held course records when they line-up at this year’s Worcester Pitchcroft 10-kilometre race on Sunday.

It will be the 24th running of the event which begins at 11am from Worcester Racecourse.

The course is over three, traffic-free laps around the tarmacadam perimeter tracks and paths offers potential personal best times for runners with the finish on the grandstand concourse

It is a licensed race by UK Athletics and holds a measurement certificate.

Matt Vaux-Harvey set the record with a time of 30 minutes and 54 seconds in 2003 with Kenyan Winifrida Kwamboka registering the best time by a woman of 34.38 11 years ago.

All finishers receive a unique commemorative medal while there is an extensive prize and trophy list, including veteran categories.

The event, organised by Worcester Athletic Club, also hosts a 2.75km fun run, costing £5, with all proceeds going to the Acorns Children’s Hospice.

Free car parking is available adjacent to the course and race headquarters.
